Animal Friends Kuwait, is organising an “Harvest Festival Barn Dance” this coming friday 16th November at SAS Hotel. Ticket is KD 15 per head. All proceedings go for Supporting the AFL Shelter Home.

But i spoke to them, they said they extended it till 14th November 2007. But they requested all guests to pls confirm their seating , before or on the 14th as they wont be accepting GateCrashers :-).

Call me whatever … i think there are more needy ‘people” than pampered dogs and cats ! … I ain’t throwing my money on dogs ! .

These are NOT pampered dogs & cats as u think. These dogs & cats are found in the most inhumane conditions on the Kuwait streets!!! And AFL has rescued them. These animals will be with AFL till some1 (who thinks sensibly & loves animals) will adopt them giving them a home.
For the meantime, these RESCUED animals are not “Pampered” but awaiting some1 to give them a home.
The awaiting time will definately cost AFL, towards food/ medicines etc (they are given basic necessities but no “pampering”). The funds collected from the show will help to take care of these costs and to help more animals to be rescued from the streets.
And man, have I seen stray dogs & cats in Kuwait or what! I’d say once they are rescued, it’d cost AFL more on medicines/care, since they have to be brought to normal conditions or close (either from starvation or diseases since being neglected, not to mention their psychological state)

OK Cyper ! i forgot about this comment ! im sorry ! I condider it so lame ! Instead why dont ‘ friends of animals’ go to phillipino or Indian or Srilankan embassy where some of the maids are are waiting to be sent home because their employees treated them worse than the dogs,
Point is no one wants to do the dirty work ! If there was fund raiser in Hilton for this purpose there would be many people to eat free food and spend the day merry making … Trust me if it wasnt SAS hotle par-tay no one would give a rats ass !

Lets put it this way..
a Human being, a living creature, with the capabilities to think, to dream, to experience. When in dire straits, a human , can work out a way to come out of it, to solve situations , to call out for help, to ask or to talk.
So if you put it in an example of a Maid, He/she can call out to help, the person could request the embassy, friends , families, a nearby stranger, atleast voice out.
Now in animals, i have seen pets been brutally beaten by thoughtless humans, all the animal would do is cry out loud.
In kuwait, there are hundred of incidents with animals, you must seen the news papers with the horses incident, i personally have an extremely cute dog, which was left out in the desert to die until it was rescued by my friend on a desert trip.
Taking Kuwait as an Example, there are more than 50 (honest charity organisations) .. but just 2 with regards to animals.
Im not against helping humans, i am/and always been involved in sorting issues with maids in kuwait, im tied up with different embassies sorting out this issues. I have been a regular member in kiva.org helping people in poor countries and also a regular subscriber in CRY.org. ..
But apart from this i have / will always do my part to animals, who are still a part and parcel of human living. My Post about the show, was to help an organisation in achieveing its duties, but providing financing through sales of its tickets. I have actually been to their shelters, and i know its costs to keep this running. the same way a normal human charity organisation would do so.
Your point of organizing it in SAS is right .. But dont you think it is logically applicable to any event? . If you have a charity organisation lets say supporting kids, and you personally decide to go there an sing… how many people would come ? But you invite for example a hollywood star … dont you think it will be a house full. ?
If you didnt understand , the concept of making it a house ful event , is to get more people to come , more people to buy the tickets. thus more sales. How sure you are that SAS didnt give the club or discount , maybe donated the evening to the cause.
im not sure if you seen animals go through shit … im not sure if you felt animals feel and understand what you do and say….
Grey….hope u can now see what’s happening out there…the stray dogs are getting shot at as a means of controlling stray dog population!!!
So those unfortunate dogs that didn’t get a chance of being rescued are now being killed on the street.
And by the way, do u how the stray dog population was created? Some foolish people saw nice cute puppy with friends/ bought it, took it home, played with it but when puppy has to be taken care of, puppy is no longer cute. Or when puppy grows up, it’s no longer cute…so best solution, throw it out on the street and these very pups are now the stray population going to be killed.
Who will think about them…if people are killed you have terms - genocide, murder, ethnic cleansing etc etc what about these poor creatures who can’t even say that it’s not their fault that they are on the street today?
There are many countries worldwide having human-over-population problems….hmmmm….are they too going to be killed in a bid to control the ever growing human population?
I wish that more people would only understand the feelings of these poor unfortunate beings and atleast support the groups who try their level best to rescue these animals or like in Grey’s condition atleast educate themselves on these topics.

I dont know if this makes any sense ! i couldnt comment here thanks to wordpress ! … I am not against animals ! I just happen to think that people just use these kind of clubs for please or what we call ‘ timepass’ .. I mean the cats and dogs survived all these thousands of years without animal clubs …didnt they ?

Yeah, they survived thousands of years without our help.
But for thousands of years there were no stupid humans that bought a toy dog and just abandoned it because they had no need for it no more.
I think I said something similar to you at another place:
Why can’t you just let the ones that want to help humans let help them and the ones that care for animals care for those.
Yes, I feel sorry for people that get treated like shit.
But the same counts for animals that are treated that way.
A human at least has a chance of defending him/herself.

Wish the hard-skulled people cud understanding something…coz since they are ignorant to the fact that animals have feelings, hence they just throw them out once done with their pleasure.

Why are they spreading negativity, only because they don’t like it and think there are other things more important.
