Animal Friends League- Animal Action Week
AFL is organizing some great activities in the coming few weeks.
IFAW asks young people to help produce their annual Animal Action poster. We are asking student between grades 2 and 8 to produce colorful paintings or drawings depicting animals and life in the oceans and seas.Deadline for submission is 5 March, 2009. Winners will be announced on 14 March, 2009 at the Animal Action Week Carnival.
March 7th– Beach Cleanup competition for grades 3-8. Participants should form into teams of 10 students plus one adult chaperon. Prizes
will be awarded for the most trash and the most interesting find. All participants will also each receive a t-shirt.
March 7th– Island Beach Cleanup for college students only to take place on Kubbar and Qaruh islands. This event is now full because of
overwhelming interest.
March 14th– Animal Action Week carnival being held at the Scientific Center from 11am until 3pm. Activities will include games, trivia,
and talking sessions. Everyone is invited to attend and welcome to participate in this fun way to learn about animals and our environment. At the carnival we will also be announcing the winners of the art competition that is taking place.
Animal Friends and IFAW are asking students to write a letter to the Chairman of the Supreme Council on the Environment about the marine environment including their concerns and how they would like to see change. We encourage the students to write a very personal letter that communicates their own individual feelings. Winners will read their letter directly to the Chairman. Deadline for submission is 10 April, 2009.
