Car Service Time - 1,00,000 Mileage.

Mazda 626 GLX - 2000 model I have finally touched the 1,00,000 mark, after having the car for about 3 years. Thank God, the car (Mazda 626 - 2000 model), has been a smooth ride. its an excellant family car. i have used it to the maximum for driving above 120Km (180 to be exact), carrying heavy load, doing the family groceries, roaming around with family, using it for work purposes and finally my own Portable IT garage. Its done it all…

I wouldnt be surprised if many of the other bloggers , may find me as a cheapshot. living with a Mazda (that too a older model). But for me, all i need is a great car, which would do all of the above. Not rip my pocket off. and Best is .. i could still use all the extra money ( i would otherwise put into an european car), for other better things in Life.

Most Expats mentality in the gulf , is that they make use of whats best , with few resources and save or utlize their fundings for other uses like sending money home, saving for india,studies.. or just enjoying life in a different way.

Coming back to my service. Well its 100K now.. and my mechanic gave me a list of things to buy

  • Spring Tension
  • Tensioner T/Belt
  • Idler T/Belt
  • Timing Belt
  • Seal Old
  • Engine Water Pump
  • Gasket Water Pump
  • Spark Plugs
  • Air Filter
  • Front Brake Pads
  • Fuel Filter

So using his reference , i will need to go to Mazda Spare parts in Canada dry street. The total parts with his service, the bill comes to about KD 150…. initially i grumbled . but then i realised that i wonder what the real service price would come up to ? and that this job is maintenance job, to prevent any roadside breakdowns. … i think im fine with it…..

Im quite happy that my mechanic, always insists on Geniune spares . My Car till date dont have any road side failures (apart from 2 accidents and low battery ). So im considering this as a reinvestment.

hmm…Mazda! never even had a drive on mazda yet! and yup..like you said its better to do the preventive stuff before something happen..especially, the gasket, water pump and coolant stuff coz overheating can really kill the engine! …have a safe drive back home..take care & cheers!

Thanks… I think the dealers here KAICO(www.kaico.net) have a Free test Drive of their cars. The Latest Mazda 6 is a very good improvement from the older 6 series. The First 6 Series which was launched from 2002 onwards, was just a cosmetic change over the same 2000 engine. It cozed a major load on the engine to carry a heavier body.

But now they have changed it. I had thought of buying a 6 series.. But my car has never failed me till date. so decided not to change..

Yes you are right about preventive maintenance…. Will keep the blog updated on the performance after the service.

regardless of your grammar, 1,00,000 = 100,000. did you really go school ;p

    Unknown…

    Im an Indian…

1,00,000 = One Lakh (indian terms)
100,000 = One Hundred Thousand ( English Terms)

    Both mean the same thing…

:-)… does it answer your question?
