A client , just gifted me , with this powerful 4 U Rack mount Dell Powerdge server. its config is Dual Xeon Processor. with 8 GB Ram and a 250G X 4 HDD, with Raid 4. im allowed to do whatever i need with it. for gaming, backups , my software development.
Its a super gift. but……….
The only condition is that i cannot take it out of the client premises. it has to remain there at all times. It seems, they had ordered 4 servers, and due to some goof up. 5 servers got delivered. and to clear the messup with the dealer,finance department etc. The dealer awarded it to the client for free. Now since im managing their IT consultancy. the owner told me that its mine to use as long as it doesnt leave the premises.
Wow .. cool gift. but now i dont know what to do with it. i cant use it as a webserver as the external traffic to inside is blocked. any suggestions?
I finally got my hands on the Lightscribe equipment after a very long time. Lightscribe has been introduced into the market almost a year ago. But as always, All new IT technology comes with a very high price tag. So i waited for it. Unfortunately, it became highly popular, that it was always out of stock.

Offlate been extremely busy, working hard on my free time, to build an independant antispam-antivirus gateway. I have used Linux as my backend and used Postfix as my mail delivery system.
This Project has been on , and 2 of my other friends, worked extremely hard on it. We even made a logo for it :-). We are currently working on making a powerful front end for those who dont know how to use linux.

Ensure port 3306 , is open in the firewalls between the db server and IIS (its localhost if it is MySQL is installed on the same server. Not many people know that we can use MySQL for our ASP applications. MySQL is extremely strong and powerful as on the same levels as MS SQL . but those who need clustering and redundancy , then MySQL Entreprise Edition is the RDBMS which is needed.
Well last week it was qualitynet. and this time its fasttelco. Whats worse with Fasttelco is their net works … but 90% of the websites in the world doesnt work. Either its blocked or their DNS doesnt work. DNS means .. it can means that your computer cannot find the location of website.
Meaning .. if you are reading blog.rayboy.org .. the DNS tells you computer that blog.rayboy.org is located at 64.74.223.78. So your Browser (IE, Firefox). will go to that server at location - 64.74.223.78. and display this website.
Unfortunately .. with Fasttelco their DNS servers dont resolve anything … and worse is they say nothing is wrong.. i had like around 20 customers call me and asking for help.. so i told them to change their dns to qualitynet…(you can do that even if you are using fasttelco internet) and it worked for them…

The Internet is sooooooo slow in my office. i dont know its been like that for about 2 weeks now.
Having spoken to Qualitynet , they say they are either doing an upgrade or their system is down. Whats worse is that everyone is agitated in office becoz of this and gets on everyone’s nerves.
I wonder what to do? Qualitynet should have a support forum, where people can post comments about this and this could help in solving customer level problems. or a downtime can be noted….
What would you do .. when you are soooooooo busy, tied up and you get this unnecessary, unfruitful, boring, unwanted, non profitable task to do? and you have no choice but to obey…..

Been working as a consultant for the last 1 year. But been doing only implementation jobs. Been giving Ideas and solutions to clients.. But somehow in kuwait , customers dont look at consultancy as a paid service… its difficult to charge them for the spoken time.
 They dont seem to understand the value of time. Finally , things seem to change . i just met a client, who needs us to consult & study their requirements and their needs and have asked us to give us a quote for the research done . Wow Kuwait is changing…. thats great
