Childhood

I got tagged by Chikka about this topic. Im wondering what much to write, it could be a full book, a documentary or maybe a series of episodes :-). I cant remember far  as much seemed to be blanked out.  But there was some incidents, which i feel i will never forget.

1. Iraq Invasion 1990. An incident which iwill never forget  i was 13 years old. and my dad got removed from the group of people we were in . and placed into another group. so i had to forget my kiddy nature and grow up too soon. We were on a passage between Kuwait to Iraq to Jordan to India, to leave Kuwait for india. So i had to take care of my mom and my 1 year ol sister. We were pure “refugees“. i can faintly remember the rough bus trip, the constant check points. form filling in so many places. The huge queue for food and water…  me starving half the time, so that my food is enough for mom and sis.

Dad finally reunited at the Jordan Airport and took off the load from me. :-).

2. Being in a strictly boys school in Kuwait before invasion. I feared the opposite sex… i.e. GIRLS… so when i was india i had to join a Co-ed School and i had to sit with my female Cousin, that was the most terrible moment of my life!!!!!!!!

3. At the age of 8 (i think) i learnt about electricity at a physics class and the teacher showed us how to connect a small tiny bulb to a battery .. and Hey ! we have light. :-) Genius me … went home .. connected that same bulb to a power supply plug and switched it on….!!!!!!!!!!!!! BOOOOOOOOM! power failure … whole house! with my fingers semi electrocuted!

4. I remember i crazed for Cartoons, all types of them. Series like A-Team, Airwolf etc. I used to desperately wait at Cine-Cinema Movie on friday nights. My Parents used to wait for the 4 pm Hindi show on fridays.

5. In College back in India, the days for being naughty in class , bringing goats , turtles and harmless snakes  to class to drive professors mad. I remembered that we lost football 38-0 to another classroom.

6. I remember learning to eat with a fork and spoon and then while struggling with a potato. it slips and jumps into my grandmom’s plate. and everyone just stares at me with astonishment.

Wow…. its way to long to memory lane :-)

Grin about the potato and the girls.
I kicked boys butts in school when they tried to kick me or friends around.

I remember collecting those cards with the A-Team, Knight Rider and Gallactica in the eighties. My pals at chool would actually have arm wrestling contests to decide who’d get the rare cards!

I remember the fights we used to have with the Palestinian kids (pre 1990) with bottles, cans and stones even….that’s where they got their training ;-)

I remember the “refugee” trip via Iraq and Jordan. I was 12 then and though it was hectic and tiring it was fun at some point of time when we got stuck in that camp for about 5 days. hey my dad got seperated from the group too Ray! Maybe they planned it…maybe they had a “seperated” group for our folks! ;-)

    Ah childhood……the age of innocence!!!

Nicole : I guess , You must have been having less dates :-) being the “mean girl in town”

zxzxzo : Yeah .. but grew up during college.

    MPJS : :-)

Barry : Yeah the cards thingy was a major trend those days . we used to fight, steal, beg , borrow to get them!!!… About the group.. probably, it was planned. Yeah we too got stuck in a strange camp. where we had to make the tents our self. with bedsheets and sticks.

    Do I have Hallos?
I have a reply from you in my RSS Feed, but it’s not here?
    Huh?
(And some other comments are gone too?)

Anyhow, no I didn’t really carry that reputation into dating age.
I only tried to date a few guys around town anyway, they didn’t want me, so I dated others. Later on they got interested and guess what ;) Yes, I turned mean again :P
