What Stupidity! , it looks like the local ministers have run out of ideas to make money for them selves. I totally agree that foreigners come to goa, and buy land to make it their summer holiday homes etc. But since the government didnt stop them before. then why now?
i agree that some(few) foriegners have mis-used this land, for illegal activities, but then for a small rotten apple, does the whole tree need to be cut? . i personally know a few kuwaiti’s who have purchase land, in Goa during the 90’s. today they cry that their money will be wasted.
Now lets look at it, from another point of view….
Lets say the Government is really serious in doing this!.
- So who will get the choicest of lands ? the ministers , their friends and families?, while the rest is kept for the public
- on what rate will the land be auctioned off ? what will be the starting bid?
- who will be invited to the auctions? the goan people ? or real estate brokers, major companies?. How easy it is for a real estate company to outbid a local goan guy.
- so once it is auctioned off , then the whole sale amount goes to ? Government? ministers?…. ?
- what about honest foreigners?
- is this a “Goans not getting benefit battle?” if so, then what about the lands own by North Indians? do we auction theirs too ?
Ook ok … .i dont want to be cribbing about this .. .so let me suggest.
- Foriegners should be invited, to sell their lands to indians or goans.. so that atleast they can cover the cost of the purchases, a timeline needs to be set.
- Only lands, which illegal activities have been caught, should be auctioned off , without any invitation.
- Government should inform the public on local newspapers of all avaliable lands for auction, without hiding the prime lands.
- Proper bidding / reserve rates to be clearly mentioned.
- Government should also introduce loans and schemes for the average man to buy land.
I feel this whole thing is blown out of proportion, which our politicians are really good at.!!!!!

Well, we must be aware that this gold mine(Goa land) has been mishandled from start. The suggestions you made seem to have plenty loopholes and these bastards (Politicians,Builders lobby,Local goons)will see a lot of light to make math work.
Suggest few points to be more clear.
1) File a RTI to verify all the properties sold to so called foriengners….you bet these are the same people you know.(locals)
2) Why auction??? land is different from commodities, hence it needs to go back to the owner with some incentives/rehab not to fall prey. Also the land owners have to be identified as most on this list must have been high on local brew when approached and got sold in the bargain.
Hope this will clear most of the fog…….THINK INSIDE THE BOX if you are goan.
Definately d land will go to d highest bidder.. irrespective of being a goan or indian or whatever .. MONEY RULES!!! this is just an eyewash by d politicians to geather votes..
So what is all this about?
Poor foreigners man !idiots , in India they displace us in the name of building damn and higways , being sons of land we dont have a voice ,who will hear the firangs?
