Kaboos ……

I dont know, if i have spelt it right. but i havent noticed any information about the stable food item in the middle east mentioned anywhere. Kaboos is actually called “Pita Bread”. It is a round, wheat flatbread made with yeast.
Similar to other double-layered flat or pocket breads, pita is traditional in many Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisines. The original pita is cooked flat without any rising. This type, known as the Greek pita, is the most well known and universal type; others include the souvlaki, kebabs, and Indian pitas.
Pita is used to scoop sauces or dips such as hummus and to wrap sandwiches like kebabs, gyros or falafel. Most pita breads are baked at high temperatures (700°F or 370°C), causing the flattened rounds of dough to puff up dramatically.
When removed from the oven the layers of baked dough remain separated inside the deflated pita, which allows the bread to be opened into pockets, creating a space for use in various dishes. This bread forms a major consumption items for low paid expats and is a highly used by even the high class.
The Kuwaiti Government has kept the kaboos always priced at 50 fils, to meet the the low paid consumers. but somehow since the rise of wheat and other commodities needed to make this bread. the size(net grams)Â has been reduced.

Oh so so much things….no time to think of these while eating
Anyway its one of the very rare good things Govt. is doing, but they are reducing the weight day by day it seems
indian govt takes money from us to eat the bread.
Hmmmm interesting………I wonder what makes the various types of kaboos different……..some crispy like the Iranian kaboos, some ulta thin, some darker & some still further darker!!
Any chefs around….
