Kiva : Loans that change lives!

Submitted by rayboy on November 11, 2007 – 8:26 amOne Comment

I have been a member of Kiva.org since August 2007. I feel their charity work has been extremely fruitful and a good step in helping the poor and needy.

I have seen charities , which feed the poor. But i feel its like an endless loop. People get fed and they are hungry again. Sorry to be mean. but this loop needs to be sorted out. That is what KIVA does. There are like an online bank. which collects money from people like you and me and give it to these people who are then taught to start up their businesses so they can lead a normal life.

These amounts are interest-free loans. Meaning the receivers are not charged anything , but helped in getting their life started by running their own businesses. In the specifically mentioned time these people repay your loan back.  Now you have a choice of taking your money back or giving it to another person.

Keep in mind you dont earn anything from this , neither does KIVA. its purely charity work, something you can be at peace , that you have done a small role in helping someone in this “otherwise difficult” world.

There are People from all over the world from vegetable sellers to a small bakery shop , people from congo to philipines .

Check it out …

I will keep this in mind – I should have sorted out a few things by end of this week and I’ll take a look then.
    Sounds very good!
