Old Phone Versus New Phone!!

I have 2 mobile numbers from different Providers ( MTC and Wataniya). So i have to use 2 phones i.e. Nokia 1110i and Sony Ericssion P990 P910. Now, the P990 P910 has amazing features and it cannot be compared with the Nokia 1110i.
But the Nokia 1110i beats the P990 P910 in battery life. It gives me 10 days battery life , with 3 days Talktime. While the P990 P910 gives me 3 days Battery life , with 10 hours talktime. Secondly the Nokia 1110i is a strong phone. it fell , hit this and that, and is still too strong.
I wonder why they dont make phones like this any more.
 :Sorry about the typo(P990 P910)

That’s a P910 not a P990
Sojourner : Sorry typed it fast…corrected it now.
It’s because of the LCD. It’s a batter killer.
A similar scenario for digital cameras. Normal point & shoot cameras where you compose your image using the LCD screen will kill your batteries after about 100 shots.
On the other hand, a dSLR (where you compose your image using an optical viewfinder, such as D70) will give you over 1000 images before the battery runs out of juice.
I have the P990 (actually gave to my wife last month) that barely lasts 1 day. On the other hand, I am currently using my wife’s Nokia 6670 which never seems to need any recharging.
Really true! Got to agree with cajie!
2 number
doh! struggling to manage the ‘one and only one’ line.
Cajie : You are right , the LCD is a killer, Infact on my phone i have turned off the Screensaver, Vibration mode etc.. But still not much difference… My Wife uses a 6230i which has everything and huge battery life..
.. im thinking of going back to Nokia standard phones…..
All these features .. makes me work more!
MPJS : yes ..
CyberRowdy : Yeah its a bit of a struggle, I have like my Laptop bag, 2 phones, my Sun glares, keys .. too much to roam with … i should be wearing military attire which has so much pockets.
sun glares?
LOL at military attire…Hawally CD pirates are now in cargos….popular Microsoft products on left pocket…games on right pocket…
Exactly my point RayBoy. I used to work in telecom and ofcourse we get all new nokia phones. Believe me most of them start going crazy after a year, while I am still holding up to the famous 6600. Man I don’t care if it falls anymore, i trust it won’t get hurt
I think Nokia are doing it on purpose short life phones so that people change more often. Previously not that huge variety of good phones were there. 6600 was a big jump and fuss in the market. But now, new phones every month. Pretty sad I really don’t know what to buy next
CR : Yeah i just realised that …. THe hawally market guys , somehow mastered the art of it.
Bashar : i dont know if its a marketing gimmick or not.. but they always leave out small good features, so they can build the next edition of the phone… somehow its a bad thing.. But it still sells.
