We are frequent visitors to this “american dining” restaurant. When i mean frequent, its like 4-5 times a year. My Wife loves vegetables and green food, and i am a meat eater. so going there means having alot of calories, which is supposed to be bad for me , as im high on a certain level of blood count, which supposedily leads to cholesterol in the near future.
I like the place, coz its very spacious and quiet, unlike ruby tuesday or fridays. the waiters are well mannered and polite. The food is reasonable. My Wife prefers the “All you can eat” buffet, which for KD 3.250 gives you a variety to choose from. a big eater like me, i pick up any one of the big steaks (KD 5.000) and i also get the buffet for free.
We mostly visit the salmiya location where the massive souk which City Centre is also based, as there is ample parking space outside.
I would grade it 4 out of 5
Advantages
- Food is good
- Variety is avaliable
- Clean, well decored place
- Good Mannered Waiters
- Doesnt require prior booking
Disadvantages
- Oflate , i noticed the steaks getting a bit smaller.. i need to re check the oz sizes in the menu.
- Too much of ponderosa ..is bad for health
too much steak, too much cholesterol
I am in the same boat like you.
Love my steaks, my wife prefers pure veg food and will reluctanlty eat meat, if there is no other choice.
Enjoy my breakfast at Applebees; and yes, I eat their steak breakfast!!
ah…. how can you have steak for breakfast… thats like an extremely heavy meal to start the day … i guess as an IT person, you need the calories.!!!
We usually go there on Fridays, at around 10.30 am, so it’s like a combination of breakfast & lunch.
ok ok .. thats cool.. i was imagining , you go to applebees early in the morning at 8 am or so , to have a steak as breakfast before going to work
Yummy……….what I love about Ponderosa…..is their huge-eat-all-you-want buffet…….but difficult to walk back to the car then
I wish more restaurants had the concept of eat-all-you-want buffet! Or PizzaHut could allow customers to take more than just one round at their Salad Bar.

ponderosa is an awesome place!I was under the impression they moved from City Center to somewhere near Marks and spencers … We went out looking for it the other night somewhere close to M&S(coz thats where i saw a ” coming soon” signage a few months ago!) and unfortunately could not locate it
no they made is smaller than what it was before…
