War with Spam!!!

Submitted by rayboy on December 19, 2007 – 1:31 am4 Comments

Spam has been my worst enemy, Not because i get them on my emails , But it makes my work as an IT Admin, real bad. Everyday i get complains from clients, friends & Family … they are like “RAY, do something !!!!”.

So We built our own Antispam Appliance, which ensure around 90% spam control .

We never had the chance, to put it on production(real environment). Until now , in the last 2 weeks, things was hectic. putting up the Antispam Servers, linking IPs, checking spam tables, etc etc. Finally it was up . In the last 2 days, I got a few friends to try it out. and i got 99% positive results. Results for 2 days are

2935  Spam messages blocked
142  Spam recipients
1745  Domains sent us spam

So  far it looks like im winning , but i guess Fighting spam will be an on going fight as long as Internet lives.

I hate Spam – should be on my Sandwich and not in my mailbox or comment section…..
So far wordpress has been great and b2 is doing an awesome job as well.
    Can’t bitch about google either.
What I don’t want, if it gets through, gets marked once and is gone forever.
Lucky me so far or not yet popular enough ? :P

Spammers’ days are outnumbered. Security is gradually adopting measures to prevent spam of services to make it even more frustrating for abusers. >:]

3baid: Spamming is a million dollar business, They find loop holes, and methods to bypass security.
