I have a huge MP3 collection amounting to about 20 GB of music files. Infact , when i used to have this craze of music collections, i even made a dedicated file server for it. From the thousands of players like windows media player, musicmatch, itunes .. im still extremely happy with WINAMP . Basic edition , no themes, no plugins nothing . its extremely light on CPU / Memory usage.
Its one of the few softwares which has always been on atleast 4 pcs out of 10. Anytime i reinstall my pc or buy a new one .. this is one of the first softwares i install!

I’ve been using Winamp for 10 years… I agree it does the job without using up a large amount of resources. I have a 20 GB collection of mp3s that I’ve been accumulating for that time, when I got a macbook for the first time 2 months ago, I started using itunes and ieatbrainz to get the id3 information into my mp3s… do you know of a similar tool that is free standing or a winamp plugin?
To be honest, Functionally it is amazing but I’ve no idea why It’s not installed in my laptop *_*
Winamp (Classic) is one of the best apps ever created. It’s light, fast, highly responsive and does what you expect it to do. If it weren’t for that fact that I need to keep my music library organized with iTunes, I would most certainly use Winamp as my primary audio player.
Omar : If you login to the winamp website , there is much plugins which will help you with id3 info. i will post some one when i have a look..
Chroma-trauma : i dont blame you for not having it installed. With hardware Mp3 players like IPODs .. etc you are forced to install Itunes.
3Baid : i think the reason winamp didnt do well , coz they didnt get into the MAC market, and secondly there werent too compatible with hardware media players like Ipod etc.
That’s one heck of a player. I used to have itaround 4 years back. ood player and doesn’t hog up resources.
MPJS : i had shot you an email ? did you get it?
