WX Wifi-Zone Varca Goa !

For those who are looking for a hi-Speed Wifi Zone in Goa. You can drop into Varca, which is in the south, and has most of the hotels like Ramada’s , Radisson, Mahindra’s etc. The Internet Backbone 8 MB from BSNL is open ports for all services except p2p and torrents.
You have 2 choices.. either you sit out anywhere in town .. or you can lounge into my office . a/b/g are currently supported . n is currently under testing. IP config is DHCP enabled. SSIDs are WX-1 (Indoor) WX-2 (Outdoor). If you are there and face any problem , do call my office at 0091 832 2770855

That’s pretty cool. Varca is not very far from where I live and it’s simply amazing to know that you can go there now and surf the net.

BTW, when you say “town”, how much area are we talking about? Does it start all the way from the Orlim/Varca border or is it restricted to the areas surrounding the church?
I don’t have Google earth installed, hence can’t see the contents of the attached file.

since one of the base stations is at the church area. that part gets full signal most of the time( some varies due to humidity).. the farthest i could reach is near “Pinto Bar/Dr. mauril”, so a radial distance. But the main office is beside the church. you could always drop into the office for full coverage. Im in the process of putting more base stations with powerful AP’s, to reach orlim and carmona . but for people to provide me a sqm of land is becoming an issue. but talks are underway.
Another of my base station is coming at the Varca beach, but it going to be a while for that to be live. as the equipment casing is being custom made to avoid rust.

Ive heared storys about peoples cameras components being melted in the sun in Goa.
If i use my laptop there , do you think the components of my laptop will melt.
(i am going in mid-april, The hottest time of year there)

The heat in Goa..isnt really hot , so the possibility of melting wont really happen. but then the humidity levels is extremely high. the possibility of condensing in electronics is highly possible. so avoid long usage outdoors. if you are passing by Varca to use our wifi, then you can sit indoors in our office, where it will be cooler.

Um just wondering is there any way of getting the internet setup in my house there?

yes its quite close about 10 mins by bike/vehicle. We have a tie up with satellite internet. if you need to do so. but it cannot be a temproary setup as the cost is high for intial purchase.
another thing you could do is buy the USB GPRS modems which can be installed on your laptop. but speeds are not that great.
